Women’s Health & Realities

This past January, a team of six from the U.S. traveled to Rwanda to lead a powerful, week-long workshop on Women’s Health & Realities. The event brought together the 100 women from the Northern and Eastern Regional Women’s Leadership Training Initiative (WLTI), who made the journey to Kigali to participate.

Guiding the sessions were Pastor Corinne Gunter (Founder of Rise Up), Dr. Bridget Hurry (OB/GYN), and Dr. Jama Davis (PhD Professor and Therapist). This impactful workshop was a collaborative effort between Rise Up and our dedicated field partner, ALARM-Rwanda.

Throughout the week, participants engaged in deep discussions about their bodies, their rights, and essential health knowledge. Together, we explored the challenges women face, tackled pressing questions, and gained valuable insights into disease prevention and overall well-being. More than just an educational experience, the workshop was a catalyst for empowerment—equipping these women with the knowledge to improve their lives, uplift their families, and advocate for change in their communities.

The energy in the room was electric. Everyone—facilitators and participants alike—leaned in, listened, and learned. We didn’t just leave with information; we left inspired, empowered, and ready to make a difference.
