Women Strengthened Through Scripture
In April, Rise Up Woman International joined Elyon Women Initiatives in Kenya to launch the Women’s Leadership Development among Maasai women in Kajiado East and Kajiado West.
Across two weeks, women gathered from local churches and communities for the first session of a 3-year program focused on discipleship, biblical training, leadership development, and practical equipping.
The course, Meeting God in the Bible, walked women through the larger story of Scripture and invited them to see how God works in and through His people as they live, lead, and disciple others. Women explored why the Bible matters, how to study and understand Scripture, the connection between the Old and New Testament, the life and ministry of Jesus, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and the hope of new creation.
The rooms were full of worship, prayer, discussion, questions, laughter, and learning. Some women traveled long distances and came despite heavy rains and difficult roads. Many represented churches where they are already serving as leaders, mentors, and women of influence.
This program is not only about what happens during training. Each woman is being equipped to return to her church and community to mentor younger women, disciple others, and help strengthen future generations.
Elyon shared that many women expressed deep appreciation for the training, with some acknowledging they had never attended anything like it before. One facilitator reflected on the women’s eagerness and their “commitment in search of the valuable treasure.”
That is exactly what we witnessed.
Women hungry for God’s Word.
Women growing in confidence.
Women being reminded that their leadership matters.
Women carrying wisdom, strength, joy, and faith into their homes, churches, and communities.
This is only the beginning.
Over the next three years, these women will continue gathering for biblical training, leadership development, discipleship, mentoring, and practical equipping. We are grateful for Elyon Women Initiatives, the local pastors and church leaders, and every partner who makes this work possible.
Together, women are being equipped to lead right where they are.
