Built to Rise

At IWE School in Rwanda, this season has been marked by both rebuilding and rising.

After the loss of a dormitory, what stands now is a powerful picture of restoration. The dormitory rehabilitation is nearly complete, and alongside it, a brand-new infirmary is taking shape—creating a safer, healthier environment for the growing number of students who call IWE home.

But what’s happening here goes far beyond construction.

Inside the classrooms, students are stepping into new levels of purpose and leadership. Through the introduction of the I Lead program, they are beginning to understand not just what they are learning—but why it matters. They are being equipped to think about their future, develop discipline, and make decisions that will shape their lives for years to come.

Across campus, that growth is visible.

Students are leading initiatives to improve cleanliness and sustainability through school-wide campaigns. A newly formed Discipleship Club is creating space for peer encouragement and spiritual growth. And in both academics and extracurriculars, students are rising to new challenges—whether competing in district athletics, presenting innovative projects, or preparing for national exams with confidence.

Even more powerful is the long-term impact beginning to take hold.

When current students met graduates who are now thriving in university-level computer science programs, something shifted. What once felt like a distant possibility became tangible. Their learning has a future. Their effort has direction.

And they are stepping into it.

With an 84% pass rate this term and nearly 100 students preparing for national examinations, the momentum is undeniable. Students are not only gaining knowledge—they are building belief in what is possible.

Families see it too.

At a recent school gathering, parents walked the campus, celebrating what has been rebuilt and what is still growing. For many, it was their first time seeing where their daughters are learning, dreaming, and becoming.

IWE is more than a school. It’s a place where girls are being equipped to lead, to think critically, to grow in confidence—and to carry that impact far beyond the classroom.

And with each new step forward, the future becomes even more clear.
