Women Rising After Displacement
In the heart of Baringo South, where floods and conflict have uprooted lives, women are finding strength, healing, and new hope. In March 2025, our field partner, Elyon Women’s Initiative, hosted a two-day trauma awareness and recovery seminar for women living in temporary camps in Noosoricho. Many of them were displaced by the rising waters of Lake Baringo and now live on land meant for an airstrip.
Through powerful teaching, prayer, and shared stories, 69 women were equipped with tools to manage stress, heal from trauma, and support others on the same journey. From forgiveness to emotional resilience, these sessions sparked a sense of renewed hope and community.
As one participant shared, “We have been healed through the word on forgiveness… we’ve learned how to move forward and trust God.”
This is just the beginning. Phase 2 will continue in May, with a focus on income-generating activities and trauma healing for children. Together, these women are not just surviving—they’re rebuilding their lives and their faith, one step at a time.
