Purpose in Action
“Let us rebuild ourselves.”
That’s the vision guiding a group of women in Rwanda’s Western Province—and it’s already taking shape in everyday, tangible ways.
After completing the Women’s Leadership Training Initiative, these women didn’t return home unchanged. They returned ready to act.
Now, through a local group built on shared commitment, they are putting what they’ve learned into practice—together. Each week, they gather to save, encourage one another, and invest in small but meaningful ventures. Some are farming. Others are raising animals, selling food, or building skills in tailoring and weaving.
What may seem small is anything but.
Through their savings group, women are able to take loans, start businesses, and grow their income over time. One woman shared how she used her loan to begin selling sweet potatoes, now helping provide for her family’s daily needs.
Another, who had once been hesitant to step out on her own, is now running a small food business—supporting her household and gaining confidence along the way.
This is what transformation looks like in real life.
Not instant, but steady.
Not individual, but shared.
At the center of it all is a deeper understanding of purpose. As the group reflected on the idea that each person has been entrusted with gifts to steward well, something shifted. Work became more than survival—it became calling.
And no one is doing it alone.
Through encouragement, accountability, and practical support, these women are building more than businesses. They are building a community rooted in growth, responsibility, and hope.
What started as training is now becoming movement.
And step by step, they are rebuilding—together.
