Stitched Together

In Nyabihu District, a group of women is beginning something new—with their hands, their skills, and their future.

The Humura Mugore sewing project was born out of a desire to see women move from vulnerability to self-sustainability. Many of these women are single mothers or come from difficult circumstances, but they share something powerful: a willingness to learn, grow, and build something of their own.

After completing leadership training through WLTI, this next step provides something tangible.

Sewing machines have arrived. Fabric is in hand. And as of late March, training has officially begun.

What was once just an idea is now in motion.

Over the next year, these women will be trained in tailoring—learning both the theory and the practical skills needed to create clothing, generate income, and serve their communities. But the vision doesn’t stop there. As they grow in confidence and ability, they will also be equipped to train others, multiplying the impact far beyond this first group.

Even the space tells a story.

A church building, once closed, has been opened for a new purpose—now filled with the sound of machines, conversation, and women stepping into opportunity. With support from local leaders, this space has become more than a classroom. It’s a starting point.

This project is about more than sewing.

It’s about dignity.
It’s about independence.
It’s about women discovering what they are capable of—and building a future with it.

And this is just the beginning.
