Kenyawa Women Lead Change
In June 2025, our partners at ALARM-Kenya conducted a powerful follow-up in the Poka/Kenyawa region as part of the ongoing Women’s Leadership Training (WLT), a 3-year journey that began in 2023. With support from Rise Up Woman International, this initiative is equipping women across 30 congregations to lead with confidence, clarity, and compassion.
This follow-up brought together over 80 women leaders from nearly 20 local churches. These leaders, many from Osotua and Nabo groups, are not only growing spiritually themselves but are also mentoring women in their congregations—multiplying the impact far beyond the classroom.
Highlights from the Field:
Gladys shared how the program taught her that leadership requires wisdom and knowledge—she now teaches others in her church.
Maria said, “An empowered woman is a strong woman and is able to stand up for her family.”
Jeniffer, once a church treasurer, is now also teaching Sunday school, crediting WLT for her spiritual growth and leadership development.
These women continue meeting weekly—despite challenges like long walks for water, livestock duties, and cultural events—to learn, pray, and empower one another. They're also launching practical community transformation efforts like chicken rearing and marriage enrichment seminars.
Despite obstacles such as high illiteracy and limited time, the women are determined. They’ve even begun translating materials into local languages and proposed new training topics like worship, spiritual gifts, and navigating ministry in unsupportive family environments.
This is more than leadership training. It's a movement of grassroots transformation—one faithful woman at a time.
