Hope Rising for Women and Girls in Kenya
Elyon Women Initiatives has been hard at work across Baringo County and Kajiado County, Kenya, empowering women and girls, nurturing leaders, and bringing hope to vulnerable communities. This past season has been full of growth, transformation, and resilience-building.
Dignify the Girl: Empowering the Next Generation
This August, Elyon hosted two powerful sessions through the Dignify the Girl initiative, which equips girls with life skills, spiritual growth, and mentorship.
107 girls gathered for a day of teaching on Living Out Your Purpose and career guidance. Through Scripture and interactive discussions, the girls explored questions like “Why are we here?” and learned how to trust God and dream for their futures.
Over two days, 70 girls engaged in sessions on self-identity, coping with emotions, healthy sexuality, and the harmful effects of female genital mutiliation (FGM). Facilitators challenged them to pursue education, embrace godly values, and stand strong against cultural pressures.
This work is supported by the Dignify the Girls Scholarship Fund, launched to help vulnerable girls access education. The program provides tuition, school supplies, and personal effects for high school and university students. Scholarships are carefully vetted, ensuring direct impact on those who need it most.
Leadership Training for Women in Kajiado County
On August 1–2, Elyon hosted a discipleship and leadership training in Kajiado County for 61 Maasai women church leaders. The training focused on:
Biblical understanding and interpretation
Discovering and using spiritual gifts
Women in ministry: challenges and opportunities
Spiritual growth and discipleship foundations
The women were deeply engaged with the material, building confidence and relationships. Future sessions will continue to build on this foundation, meeting four times a year to equip women as spiritual leaders in their communities.
Resilience and Livelihood in Noosoricho
Elyon continues to walk alongside displaced and vulnerable women in Noosoricho.
In July, 38 women gathered for training on business development and income-generating activities. They created simple business plans for projects such as goat rearing, poultry keeping, tailoring, and small shops. Topics included:
Costing and pricing
Record keeping
Savings and financial stewardship
Trauma Healing Among Displaced Communities
The Arabal community continues to face deep pain from violent conflicts that have forced families to flee their homes.
In July, Elyon provided trauma awareness and recovery training to 54 displaced women living in Kapleiyo. The sessions offered tools for understanding stress, coping with trauma, and moving toward healing.
During discussions, women shared heartbreaking stories of loss. One participant voiced the deep challenge of forgiveness:
“How do I forgive an enemy? Look where I live now. All that I had was taken away.”
Despite the heaviness, the group found hope through Scripture, singing, and prayer. Elyon plans to partner with local churches to organize future conferences for women, men, youth, and children, bringing holistic healing to this hurting region.
