From Village Classrooms to University

What began with 70 girls in 2023 has grown into an initiative equipping young women across rural Kenya with life skills, confidence, and opportunities to pursue their futures.

In 2023, 70 girls gathered in Iti, Kenya, for the launch of Dignify the Girl, a program designed to equip young women with the knowledge, life skills, and spiritual foundations to navigate life's challenges.

Three years later, some of those same girls are preparing to take an exciting next step: university! It's an encouraging milestone for a program committed to walking alongside girls as they grow, make important decisions, and pursue their goals.

And the impact of Dignify the Girl continues to reach new communities.

In August 2026, Elyon Women Initiatives expanded the program to Parkaren, a community in Kenya's Baringo County. Girls from surrounding villages gathered for two days of training, with 43 girls attending the first day and 68 attending the second.

The sessions focused on practical challenges many young women face, including managing stress, developing healthy self-esteem, making wise friendship choices, using time effectively, and understanding their emotions.

Local facilitators led interactive discussions, using familiar examples to help participants connect the lessons to their everyday experiences.

These conversations are especially meaningful in communities where families have experienced challenges including insecurity, flooding, and displacement.

During the training, girls were encouraged to recognize their value, develop healthy coping strategies, and make thoughtful decisions as they prepare for new stages of life.

One of the closing sessions invited the girls to see themselves through "God's mirror," reflecting on their identity as wonderfully and fearfully made in His image rather than allowing social media or peer pressure to define their worth.

Dignify the Girl is about more than a single training session.

Since its launch, the program has continued reaching girls in Iti and Eldume, providing age-appropriate teaching on personal development, relationships, career choices, emotional well-being, and Christian faith.

As participants move from primary school into secondary school and eventually higher education, Elyon Women Initiatives remains committed to encouraging and mentoring them through these important transitions.

Through our partnership with Elyon, Rise Up Woman International celebrates the growth of this initiative and the young women taking meaningful steps toward their futures.

From girls learning to manage their emotions and build healthy relationships to young women preparing for university, each milestone represents progress worth celebrating.

Because equipping a girl today means helping prepare her for the decisions, opportunities, and responsibilities of tomorrow.
