From Graduates to Community Changemakers

Graduating from the 3-year Women's Leadership Training Initiative (WLTI) isn't the end of the journey—it's just the beginning. Across Rwanda, WLTI graduates are putting their leadership into action by forming community groups that combine biblical discipleship, economic empowerment, and mutual support. What began in the classroom is now transforming families, churches, and entire communities.

Today, graduates are leading groups where women farm together, save together, learn business skills, and encourage one another in their faith. Members are growing crops, raising livestock, operating small businesses, learning vocational trades like tailoring and weaving, and building community savings funds that provide small loans to help women start or expand their own businesses.

The impact is personal. One woman shared that before joining her group, she depended entirely on her husband to provide for her family. Through the group's encouragement and access to a small loan, she started selling sweet potatoes, sugar cane, firewood, and charcoal. Today she is helping meet her family's needs while continuing to grow her business. Another woman said the group gave her the confidence to overcome loneliness, start her own vegetable business, and discover that she, too, could contribute to her family's future.

These groups are about far more than income. They are building confident leaders, strengthening families, and creating communities where women support one another spiritually, emotionally, and economically. As graduates continue to receive coaching in business development, stewardship, and leadership, they are multiplying the impact of WLTI far beyond the classroom.
