Access to Scripture May 14 Written By Amanda Feller You can see the excitement in these women’s faces as they received solar-powered audio Bibles and learned more about meeting with God in the scripture! In 2021, in partnership with ALARM-Kenya, Rise Up conducted a women’s leadership training for 55 women. Despite their enthusiasm to learn more, there was an undeniable need uncovered. Only 30% of women in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya are literate. In January, our friends and partners rallied together to raise funds to gift these women with audio Bibles translated into their language! In April, these 55 women gathered together with ALARM-Kenya and were given their very own audio Bibles. As these women met together under the theme, “More Precious than Gold”, they discovered how important women are to God. "Most of us don’t know how to read or write. We normally request other people to read the Bible to us. Only the Holy Spirit enables us to preach from the Word. We have been taught the Word of God and have been given audio Bibles which we can listen and preach the Word of God easily. God has remembered us. I’m going to church and I won’t need to request anyone to read the Bible to me as I have my audio Bible which I can listen to." "Every evening we go for prayers in church and because we don’t know how to read the Bible, we place our hands on the Bible and ask God to enable us that one day we would be able to know how to read it. I thank God for the audio Bibles you’ve given us." Amanda Feller
