Empowering the Heart & Home

After the workshop in July in the Ilchamus community in Baringo County, our field partner, Rachel Mutai, determined a need within the community to address the impact of unhealed trauma.

In October, Rachel facilitated a workshop covering the topics of Trauma and the Cycle of Violence along with Business Skills Training.

During the first part of the workshop, the group discussed the cycle of violence and how unhealed trauma can contribute to this cycle. They discussed ways to break this cycle by exploring the healing journey.

Rachel then guided the group through business management training and covered business planning, marketing, budgeting, record keeping, and savings. A livestock officer then educated the group in goat rearing, husbandry, disease control, etc.

We are hopeful that as Rachel and her team continue to invest in this community, the women will be empowered economically, spiritually, relationally, and socially.
