The Impact of Educating Girls
Adolescence is a critical time that often defines a girl’s future. Girls are strong, capable and deserve the opportunity for an education in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment. Research has shown that when you invest in educating girls not only is their life changed, she becomes a change agent in their family and community.
We believe a girl’s economic situation should not dictate the education she receives. Join us in unleashing the creativity, ingenuity, and potential of young women.
IWE (Institute of Women for Excellence) is a secondary boarding school for girls focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Rise Up is so glad to be able to partner with The Institute for Women of Excellence (IWE) operated by ALARM (African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries) in Rwanda.
“In Rwanda, educationalists and experts attribute the low enrollment of girls and women to a culture that discourages girls from pursuing sciences on the basis that STEM is too hard for girls… According to Dr Herine Otieno Menya, the director of the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences’ Teacher Training Program, Rwanda, the gender disparity in STEM in Rwanda “has nothing to do with the ability of the girls to do sciences.”

The exceptional education provided by IWE has been made possible through families paying school fees and the generosity of financial partners. Please consider supporting IWE and the students by making a monthly or one-time donation.
Check out how far your financial gift goes to support the students and teachers at IWE.
A monthly donation of $40 can change the life of one student by helping cover the expense of IWE. Rise Up is collaborating with ALARM-Rwanda for this initiative.
