Empowering Women With Business Skills Training

Women and girls in Baringo County (Kenya) have experienced incredible difficulties from Lake Baringo flooding and surrounding violence, causing many to be displaced from their homes.

This initiative targets vulnerable women who are displaced by Lake Baringo and those who fled their homes because of violence from cattle raiders and community members.

On May 22-26, Rise Up, in partnership with Elyon Initiatives, conducted business skills training for 44 women.

As these women participated in this workshop, they learned how to foster business ideas, prepare business plans, perform research on business and market needs, and manage finances.

The women formed four small groups based on where they live and the type of business they wish to conduct.

They will meet in the coming months to support one another as they continue to apply the learning and implement their plans.
