The Impact of Locals Leading

In 2018, 55 women graduated from the Women’s Leadership and Training Initiative (WLTI). The WLTI is a 3-year program that educates and equips women leaders in topics and skills such as theology, economic empowerment and business, women’s realities, health and wellness, trauma-healing, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.

In 2019, a select group of these graduates was equipped to become Trainers-of-Trainers (TOTs). As we celebrated the graduation of this class of leaders, we hoped to have a multiplying impact across different regions in Rwanda.

These hopes became a reality as we joined 2 teams of TOTs to launch the Eastern and Northern Regional WLTIs!

The Rise Up team was so excited to be with the TOT teams for this BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT!

The Eastern Region.

7 TOTs from the original WLTI graduating class did an incredible job facilitating and leading a new cohort of 50 Rwandan church and community leaders.

Together, we walked through session 1, “Meeting God in the Bible.” This module provided an overview of the story of God and helped create a foundation to study and teach the Bible.

The women traveled from all over the district and even though they began as strangers they ended the week as friends.

The Northern Region.

Another group of 7 TOTs headed out to the Northern Region to equip and empower another 50 church and community leaders for their second session of the WLTI.

In our week together, the TOTs walked these women through session 2, “Bible interpretation.” Together, we dug deeper into the narrative of the Bible.

This is what Rise Up is all about – multiplying the impact in local communities through encouraging, equipping, and empowering local leaders.
