Regional Leadership Training - Rwanda

A group of graduates of a 3-year leadership development program (WLTI: Women’s Leadership Training Initiative) were selected to be Trainers of Trainers (TOT). The TOTs have been divided into regional teams and will be taking the 3-year leadership development program to 100 leaders in the Eastern and Northern provinces of Rwanda. Training includes principles of leadership and mentoring, theology and faith, trauma awareness and recovery, women’s realities, health, HIV/Aids, conflict resolution and peace building, and community development and economic empowerment.

Farming and Pig Project - Rwanda

Training small farmers in agricultural practices and pig rearing is underway. Once the pigs reproduce, piglets will be given to vulnerable community members to enhance their livelihood as the manure is used to fertilize the land and offspring will be be used for food and/or sold for income.

Michele, the Rwandan agronomist has already trained 250 small farmers in improved agricultural practices that help to address poverty, food insecurity, and malnutrition. The farm also employs 10-15 women as day workers.

Tailoring School - DR Congo

Students enter a 9-month tailoring training program that culminates with the students sitting for a local government administered exam. Upon completion of the program and passing the examination, graduates receive a sewing machine and sewing kit. The start-up kit empowers these women to pursue a job and/or start a business. There are currently 90 students enrolled and working toward graduation. Originally scheduled to graduate in August, 2020, the training has been adjusted and extended in response to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.

Empowering Single Moms - Kenya

Encouraging and empowering single mothers with business and technical skills increasing their capacity to generate income and support themselves and their children. Training includes making liquid detergents, woven mats, bead work, baking, and hairdressing. COVID-19 places these moms and their children at even greater risk. They live where physical distancing and stay-at-home policies are not practical or possible. Join us as we support some of the most vulnerable.

Trauma Healing & Resilience - Uganda

South Sudanese women who have been forced to flee to Uganda as refugees due to ongoing violence. In January 2020, two trauma recovery and healing conferences were conducted with just over 199 women participating. To continue the healing process and building up resilience the women need to gather for support and encouragement. Join us as we provide the resources to create safe space for these women to gather.
